We don’t have a large plot of land but we do want to be good stewards of the land we have, and by example, of all God’s creation.
VEGETABLES & HERBS
We plant and maintain five raised beds for vegetables along the south (Bloor Street) wall of the church.
We also have two bins for potatoes, a ridge of soil for rhubarb, and a herb garden.
Our produce is shared with parishioners. It’s delightful to see people come over to sample a fresh cherry tomato when we have lemonade on the lawn on Sundays in the Summer.
We’d like to increase production to where we can donate fresh produce to a local food bank.
FLOWERS & SHRUBS
In the Spring we replenish the soil in the beds, and plant annuals in the flower beds and urns.
Jim leads a Spring flower sale, organizing willing parishioners to help on distribution day.
Ongoing work includes pulling weeds, trimming shrubs, and generally maintaining the gardens through the Summer and early Fall.
Come late Fall, the team puts the gardens to bed for the Winter, pulling up the annuals and cutting back the perennials and shrubs.
We welcome volunteers to help with planning, planting, weeding, or watering. We also welcome donations of plants, seeds, soil, or compost.
Together we build, plant, trim, weed, water, and harvest the gardens surrounding the church. If you are interested in joining our team, please contact us:
