Prayer Shawls are shawls or scarves or lap blankets made with awareness of God’s love for us and for the commandment to love and serve each other. A group of parishioners meets almost monthly to make prayer shawls for those in need of compassion or celebration.
These shawls are received at a blessing prayer during a Sunday celebration, and then are distributed by our parish deacon. Every single shawl looks different in size and shape and colour, and every single shawl has found the perfect recipient.
We’ve been blessed with plenty of donated yarn, and we’ve also been blessed with stories from recipients about how powerful an experience this has been for them.
Our shawls so far have been either knit or crocheted. We haven’t had anyone weave, quilt, or sew them. Yet.
We even have starter kits ready if you’d like to learn to knit or crochet. Please let our deacon know if you’re interested in this ministry. We’d love to have you join us!
