Walking to The Cross
A Devotional for Lent
Holy Week: Clarity for the Journey
When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing. – Luke 23: 33-34
Our Lenten journey ends at the foot of the cross with Christ’s words of piercing clarity. To those who whipped him and nailed him to the cross, to the multitudes who laid their coats down on Sunday just to turn their backs on Friday, Jesus said, Father, forgive them.”
Forgiving God, My shortcomings are many, but you remain steadfast in your love for me. Continue your tireless work in me so that I might become the servant you desire. Amen.
