Good Friday – April 14

10am The Way of the Cross

Our Good Friday exploration is happening again this year. Although it was designed with children in mind, anyone can attend. We travel to the stations of the cross around the church. At each station we hear a story, and do an activity

12pm Good Friday with Passion Gospel

At this service, we dramatize the story as part of our liturgy.
This is the most solemn day of the Christian calendar and this solemnity is reflected in our prayers and worship together.

Youth Overnight Sleepover– Fri April 14, beginning at 7pm

On Friday April 14th from 7:00pm to Saturday April 15th at 10:00am the youth will be having their annual Easter weekend sleepover.  Come to the church for an evening of fun and games and short reflective candlelight service.  Don’t forget to invite your friends!

The Great Easter Vigil – April 15

We renew our baptismal vows and celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter.  Bring a bell!  After the service, there will be a resurrection party!

Easter Day – April 15

8 & 10am Easter Day Celebrations – bring a bell!

All Saints’ Sale of Flowering Annuals

Spring seems to be on the way and with it comes the planting of our favourite flowering annuals.  As part of the annual Spring Sale, we are selling beautiful, top quality plants at competitive prices as a way of contributing to the sale and as a convenience to members of the congregation and their friends. Taxes are included in the price.

Recently, we introduced 12-inch hanging baskets (which fit urns nicely) containing various combinations of geraniums, sweet potato vines, lobelia, bacopa, and variegated ivy.  These were a huge success and we are happy to offer them again this year along with our traditional plants.  As for impatiens, if buyers would like to order this variety, we can accommodate them but cannot guarantee that the plants will survive the fungus that sometimes attacks them.  Some parishioners purchased and planted impatiens last year and they did very well; and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the impatiens at the Royal York subway station survived all season.  So, if you buy impatiens, there is a good chance they will survive.

Please note the dates and contacts for ordering; it would be appreciated if you could order early instead of waiting until the end of April.  Orders can also be dropped off in the church office.  Thank you for your support.

(If you don’t have a garden, please consider buying flowers for the church garden to help beautify our corner of the community.)

Help Needed!

Volunteer to help with Youth Events

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be in church in the calm and quiet of the middle of the night?   Have you ever heard about upcoming youth events and thought they sounded like so much fun that you wanted to join in too?  Have you been wondering how you can help out at All Saints’ over Easter weekend?  If you answered “Yes!” to any of the above questions then we’ve got an opportunity for you!

On Friday April 14th the youth are having their annual Easter weekend sleepover and we need an adult or two to help out.  Join us for an evening of fun and games, a short candlelight service, then spend the night, and help out with breakfast before heading home Saturday morning.  Consider joining us for the entire event or sharing the time with another adult (one person can come for the evening and one for overnight and breakfast).

Please let Kelly (childrenandyouth@allsaintskingsway.ca) know if you can help!

Nursery Coordinator

Our nursery coordinator, Monica, is graduating from her Early Childhood Education program and is moving to Montreal at the beginning of May so we will be looking for a replacement. You may know someone with the right qualifications who is looking for a nice working environment with children. The job listing is on our website under latest posts http://allsaintskingsway.ca/nursery-coordinator-job-posting/

If you would like more information, please speak to Jean Woolford or Ruth Cairns.

 “Hold the Date”

Our neighbours across the road are singing for Stonegate Ministry! Sunday April 9th, The Kingsway Conservatory of Music, along with special guest, Juno award-winning Billy Newton-Davis (of ‘Nylons’ fame) are presenting a concert at Kingsway Lambton United Church at 2PM. Come, enjoy the music, followed by refreshments, and support both the Conservatory and Stonegate Ministry.   Tickets are $10 each (children 12 and under admitted free) and will be available at the door on the day of the concert.   This is a fundraiser concert for Stonegate Ministry! In addition to the admission cost, there will be an opportunity, during the program, to make a receipted ($20 or more) donation to Stonegate Ministry.   For further information, please contact stonegateministryoffice@gmail.com.  See you there!  Helen Skippon

Ecumenical Good Friday Walk for Justice – April 14, 2017  2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The walk begins and ends at the Church of the Holy Trinity and the crowd moves as a procession to stations around the city within walking distance, each set with a different aspect of the theme.  At the end of the walk, back at the church there is a short reflection followed by a light meal of soup and bread.

37th Annual Spring Sale

Yes, it’s time to start thinking “Spring Sale”. Our sale will be held this year on Saturday, May 6th from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  For the Sale to be successful we need EVERYONE to make a contribution. How can you help…let me count some ways – donating goods to sell, baking your favourite goodies for the Bake Sale area, helping to sort goods before the Sale, setting up tables the Sunday before the Sale, delivering flyers in your neighbourhood, ordering flowers through the church, staffing a sales area the day of the Sale, cleaning up after the Sale, and finally making a money contribution to help defray overhead costs of the Sale (tax receiptable). Oh, yes, and SHOPPING at the Sale.
In order to be successful we need to concentrate on the things that sell well:
Clean, gently-used clothing;  treasures;  collectibles;  vintage items;  books (but no text books);  cd’s, dvd’s (but no VHS tapes);  jewellery;  small furniture; linens; toys and games; pictures ;  lamps;  small electrical appliances (no t.v.’s);  house wares and kitchenware;  sports equipment.
Items can be dropped off on the auditorium stage during the following times:
Monday thru Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Oh yes, BOXES, BOXES, BOXES…We need lots of liquor store boxes to store donations in, after we have sorted them.  Most outlets will give you 4 or 5 at a time and you don’t even have to buy something!
